MAHB eyes India, Indonesia airport stakes

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is eyeing stakes in airports in India and Indonesia.

“We are looking at airports closer to Malaysia as well as airports in other high performing countries,” MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali told StarBiz on the sidelines of the Global Airport Development Asia 2015 conference in Kuala Lumpur.

In March, MAHB disposed its 10% stake in Delhi International Airport Private Ltd to GMR Airports Ltd, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, for a consideration of US$79mil (RM295mil).

Meanwhile, the Malaysian airport operator has pre-qualified its bid for the maintenance job at the King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

However, the tender document has not been issued yet.

“Since it is only a small airport, we are expecting only about 10% contribution to the group, which is not significant,” he said.

“For now, we will look at South Asia,” he added.

MAHB closed 16 sen down at RM6.19 on Wednesday.
