Top Malaysian: Danny Chia taking a shot at the 12th hole yesterday. He finished the first round with a two-under 70 to be joint 23rd.

DANNY Chia birdied two of his last three holes to emerge as the best Malaysian performer with a two-under 70 on the first day of the CIMB Classic at the TPC Kuala Lumpur.

Danny started by bogeying the first two holes. But birdies on the third, sixth and eighth helped put him one-under at the turn.
