KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia jumped nine spots to stay at No. 141 according to the latest world rankings issued by FIFA (Federation of International Football Associations).
The change is credited to the national team’s 2-1 win over Yemen in the final match of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifier on March 5, and the goal-less draw against the Philippines in a friendly international match at the Selayang Stadium on March 1.
The position puts Malaysia on par with teams like Belize (140), Turkmenistan (142), Lesotho (143), Antigua, Barbuda (144) and Hong Kong (145).
Among the Asean nations, Malaysia is behind Vietnam (125) and the Philippines (130). – Bernama
