A YOUNG and successful regional manager with a jewellery company had to leave his job because his visual ability deteriorated due to genetic problems. He used to drive to work, but now he had to learn to use a white cane and live the life of a blind man.

Another young woman, a civil engineering graduate from Universiti Teknologi Mara, lost her sight in her right eye two years ago due to diabetes. Sadly, the vision in her left eye was also decreasing. With this visual impairment, all her hopes of getting a job were dashed. These heartbreaking stories of Amos Hii Bee Kui and Siti Sarah Md Salleh (pic) were carried in StarMetro North on Dec 23.
