IT is not easy to be an Olympian. Being chosen to represent the country is in itself a great achievement and winning medals at the Olympics is something that very few athletes can achieve.

Therefore, it is wrong for Ridhuan Tee Abdullah to undermine our athletes by making derogatory statements that they are in it more for the money rather than the nation. It is very unbecoming of a person of his standing – an academic – in society to make such derogatory remarks.
