Watch incredible moment water pipe explodes after inflating carpark surface like a balloon

KYIV: Surveillance video has captured the incredible moment that a water main burst in Kiev, Ukraine, with such force that it inflated the asphalt surface of a carpark like a balloon, before erupting on a fountain of mud and debris.

The CCTV footage shot on Monday and time stamped at 1.58pm, also shows the aftermath of the muddy explosion: a six-metre-wide crater, ruined shopfronts and streets flooded.

The footage, from multiple angles, shows a woman walking past the carpark as the ground begins to inflate.

She glances towards the bizarre scene a split second before the explosion.The Daily Mail and other publications reported that she was uninjured.

The UK publication reported that officials had been conducting tests on the pipeline when the explosion occurred. – South China Morning Post
