Tourist drowns while snorkelling at Pulau Perhentian


JERTIH: A 68-year-old male tourist from China drowned while snorkelling at Teluk Keke, Pulau Perhentian, here on Wednesday (Feb 25).

Besut OCPD Supt Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim said in the 11.40am incident, the victim was reported to have lost consciousness while participating in snorkelling activities with his friends.

"The victim was rushed to the Pulau Perhentian Health Clinic but was subsequently pronounced dead. Preliminary investigations found no elements of foul play involved in the victim's death," he said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 26).

Mohd Rozaime added that the body was sent to the Besut Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem, which confirmed on Thursday that the cause of death was drowning. - Bernama
