Fire razes three speedboats docked at Sarawak jetty


SIBU: Three speedboats moored at the Sarikei Jetty on Jalan Khoo Peng Long here were destroyed in a fire early Thursday (June 6).

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, in its daily update, reported receiving a distress call about the fire at 1.32am.

A team of firefighters from the Sibu Central station, led by PBK II (KUP) Mansur Kinit, was dispatched to the scene.

"The fire involved three speedboats anchored at the jetty, each of which was completely destroyed by the blaze,” it said.

The firefighters used water from the river and foam to douse the raging flames.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
