Tanker lorry driver cheats death as vehicle catches fire


KLUANG: A tanker lorry driver managed to escape just in time before the vehicle went up in flames near here.

Renggam Fire and Rescue Department acting chief Mohd Aini Jahid said the incident took place along Sungai Sayong, Jalan Renggam-Kluang.

“We received an emergency call on Monday (Nov 29) at 6.41pm,’’ he said in a statement.

Mohd Aini said six firefighters led by senior officer II Abd Rahim Razali and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle were deployed to the scene.

“The tanker lorry was badly damaged in the fire but the 52-year-old driver escaped unhurt,’’ he said.

The operations ended at 7.09pm.
