MCA: DAP attacking us to cover up lack of power

PETALING JAYA: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s “constant demonisation” of MCA is a cover up of its lack of power in Cabinet, claims Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (pic).

The MCA central committee member said Lim is using MCA to mask its non-existent presence in the government system.

“As part of the new ruling coalition, DAP has no achievements in government policy to boast about,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 13).

“Without any political achievements, DAP can only rely on rocketing MCA to brush away its no-say in the government and conceal its incompetence,” he added.

He claims that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has the sole voice in the government.

Thus, he said DAP “relies on suppressing MCA to rationalise its own powerlessness”.

He said DAP is resorting to the dangerous game of racial sentiment to consolidate its position and power.

Mah was responding to Lim’s statement urging MCA to close down after failing in the May 9 polls and the Balakong by-election.

Pakatan Harapan candidate Wong Siew Ki from the DAP won the Balakong state seat with a 18,533 vote majority.

She garnered 22,508 votes while Tan Chee Teong got 3,975 votes.

There was a low voter turnout of 43% for the state seat.
