Duo gunned down in Sibu cafe

SIBU: Two men, aged 47 and 21, were killed by a lone gunman at a cafe on Jalan Pahlawan here Thursday.

The pair were having lunch with one of the victim's girlfriend, a Chinese national, when a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and a red long jacket approached them and fired four shots from a pistol.

According to state police commissioner Datuk Amer Awal, the two men died on the spot while the woman was unharmed.

After firing the shots, the gunman fled on a motorcycle.

A task force has been formed to investigate the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"It is too premature to release any information as we are still investigating the case," Comm Amer said, while advising the public not to speculate on the incident.
