Massive fire breaks out at Seremban wet market

SEREMBAN: The top floor of the two-storey Seremban wet market in the town centre here caught fire after a downpour on Saturday evening.

 

A team of firefighters are still fighting the blaze, which is believed to have started around 7.30pm.

The top floor, which houses food and fruit stalls as well as outlets selling flowers and chicken eggs, is usually closed after 5pm.

However, the ground floor is usually a hive of activity around 7pm, with lorries transporting vegetables to vendors in the 35-year-old building.

The cause of the fire has yet to be established.
