KELANA JAYA: Haj pilgrims have been reminded to refrain from making jokes out of their experiences in the Holy Land as such acts will defeat the purpose of their pilgrimage, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"I have performed the haj several times and I know many pilgrims make puns and spoofs that are entirely unnecessary," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He said this in his speech on Sunday to the last batch of Malaysian haj pilgrims at the Kelana Jaya Tabung Haji Complex here.
The pilgrims will be leaving for Mecca on Sunday.
Among those in the group seeing the pilgrims off are Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar and Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
