Very much in love: Tunku Tun Aminah will wed Dennis at Istana Bukit Serene.
JOHOR BARU: Dutchman Dennis Muhammad Abdullah’s “gentle and kind personality” was what attracted his wife-to-be, Johor Princess Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim.
The princess said Dennis was also supportive and understood her well.
The royal couple are set to tie the knot in a much talked-about ceremony steeped in Johor royal tradition and customs tomorrow.
Dennis, who embraced Islam before he met Tunku Aminah, has equally sweet things to say about his bride-to-be.
“She is very special to me. She is sweet but also sensible and has very strong family values.
“Tunku Aminah is close to her family, the same way I am with mine back home in Holland,” Dennis said, adding that he felt honoured to be accepted by the Johor royal family.
Dennis said he would continue working after the wedding.
He holds a senior position in a major property development company in the state.
Tunku Aminah said she had been getting her new home ready and was looking forward to starting the next chapter of her life.
“This will be the first time I am living alone – away from my parents and family,” she said in an interview with the Royal Press Office.
Tunku Aminah’s betrothal is set to take place in the morning at Istana Bukit Serene here followed by the solemnisation ceremony tomorrow.
Later in the evening, the new couple would have their bersanding (sitting-in-state) ceremony at Istana Besar’s Throne Room.
At the event, the bride is expected to don a traditional baju kurung teluk belanga and the groom, the baju melayu teluk belanga which reflects the history of Johor.
