Homestay operator fined for filming guests nude

IPOH: A homestay operator was fined a total of RM10,000 for insulting the modesty of eight guests by filming them nude in a bathroom.

Lim Lai Heng, 45, was accused of doing so by using a mini CCTV hidden in an upstairs bathroom at the Ipoh Garden Homestay at No. 31, Jalan Pekeliling Tasek, Canning Garden here between 2.30pm and 11.30pm on July 27, 2014.

Lim had initially claimed trial to the charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code in Nov 2014 and was acquitted and discharged last November.

Following an appeal by the prosecution last Thursday, Lim was found guilty of the offences by the High Court here and was ordered to enter his defence.

Lim pleaded guilty when the case was called up before magistrate Siti Salwa Ja'afar on Thursday.

His victims, five of whom were females, were aged between 17 and 53 at the time of the incident.
