Pet dog chases away five would-be robbers

KLANG: A pet dog saved the day for a family in Bukit Bayu Tinggi near here when it literally chased away five parang-wielding men who tried to rob its master last Sunday.

Klang Selatan police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said the men who wore masks arrived in an MPV in front of the house at 10.28pm when the 40-year-old house owner was attending to his car that was parked in front of the gate.

“The victim was in front of his house when the men arrived and tried to rob him.

“He quickly rushed into his house and let his dog out of the front gate,’’ said ACP Shamsul Amar said in a statement.

The dog started barking as it ran towards the men who rushed back to their vehicle and sped away.

The incident was captured on CCTV and went viral on social media after the victim’s friend posted in a page called We Are Malaysians on Facebook.

ACP Shamsul Amar said acting on a report lodged by the victim, police ambushed a house in Taman Sentosa today (Wednesday) and arrested a 30-year-old man believed to be one of the men.

"A urine test conducted on the man returned positive for methamphetamine.

"A check on his police records showed that he had 27 cases," said ACP Shamsul Amar.

The case is being investigated for attempted robbery.
