'Balik kampung' rush: Heavy traffic on all major highways

Traffic at a standstill on the north south expressway at Tapah.

PETALING JAYA: The 'balik kampung' exodus for Hari Raya was in full swing early Friday morning as traffic slowed to a crawl on most major expressways heading out of the city.

The first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri is expected to fall on Sunday, prompting most city folk to begin travelling back to their hometowns on the final working day before the long weekend.
