SEREMBAN: Commuters at the main bus station here panicked when they saw thick smoke billowing from the first level of the multi-storey building Friday afternoon.
Members of the public quickly called the Fire and Rescue Department, which sent a team quickly and stopped the fire from spreading.
A department spokesman said the fire broke out at the motorcycle parking area of the building, which is known as Terminal 1.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that 13 motorcycles were destroyed in the blaze," he said.
Several hundred motorcycles are usually parked there by commuters who use public transport to get to work in various parts of the Klang Valley.
The upper floors of the building is a car park while the ground floor is the bus terminal.
The authorities have cordoned off the area to investigate if the fire was a case of arson.
