Pakatan needs to hold talks with PAS, says Azmin

IPOH: Pakatan Harapan needs to hold a discussion with PAS to resolve all current disputes before facing the coming general election, said PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said any disputes between PAS and other opposition parties within the grouping, including DAP, could be resolved through discussion and consultation.

“We have to sit down, talk and discuss. I believe this has been a method or mechanism that we've been using for many years,” he told reporters after attending the Perak PKR convention yesterday.

“There have been many issues in the past that were sensitive, which we managed to resolve through discussion and consultation. We understand the sensitivity but we must look at the bigger picture.

“Our biggest enemies are Barisan Nasional and Umno.

“We are trying to carry out a major reform in the general election to ensure we can work together as a coalition achieve our target of defeating them,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin also said Pakatan believes that PAS still has a role to play in the election. He said the principle of a straight fight between an opposition party candidate against Barisan should be maintained in the next general election.

“It's not going to be easy but as political party leaders, we need to have humility to accept differences and views of others.

“The bottom line is to have a consensus to work against Barisan and Umno,” he added.

In his speech earlier, Mohamed Azmin called for unity between all Pakatan Harapan parties and PAS to face the imminent general election.

“Hopefully, DAP, Amanah, Bersatu and also PAS can work together,” he said.

“Like husband and wife, we can have our differences but let us not destroy our house,” he added.
