Woman breaks toes in Subang Jaya mall travelator

PETALING JAYA: A woman fractured her toes when her foot was caught in a travelator at a shopping mall in Subang Jaya.

A spokesman for the shopping mall told The Star that the incident involved a 38-year-old woman who had been distracted while riding on the travelator.

"The shopper has received hospital treatment for a bone fracture," the spokesman said Thursday.

According to the statement posted on the mall's Facebook page, the incident happened at 4pm Wednesday when the woman was riding on the travelator between the lower ground floor and basement floor.

In a photo circulating via WhatsApp, the woman's left sandal can be seen stuck between the steps of the travelator.

The Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the incident and said its team of rescue personnel and paramedics gave first aid treatment to the victim.

It said the victim was then sent to Sunway Medical Centre for further treatment.
