Nude woman wanders near shoplots

PETALING JAYA: A stark naked woman was spotted wandering near a row of shoplots in Taman Universiti, drawing curious looks from passers-by and shopkeepers.

“She took off all her clothes in the back alley and then started walking around our shop,” said Ray Leong, 25, a mechanic.

“She walked two or three rounds and a lot of people tried to help her.

“We ran to give her a blanket to cover herself,” he said, recounting the Friday afternoon incident.

Another mechanic, Phuah Jia Chia, 40, tried talking to the woman, but found her mostly incoherent.

“She was (in a) blur when I spoke to her.

“She spoke Mandarin, but it was not accurate. She told me she was from Vietnam.

“I could not really understand what else she was saying,” he said.

When he asked her where she stayed, she replied “Subang Jaya”, but then changed it to “Shah Alam”.

“When I stopped asking her questions, she would start talking to herself,” Phuah said.

A brief video of the woman walking about barefoot and naked was shared on WhatsApp.

Several men at a car workshop nearby can be heard muttering in Cantonese about her in the footage.

A customer at the workshop called the police who took the woman away.

When contacted, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the woman was Vietnamese and that she was taken to the Sungai Way police station.

He said she was sent to University Malaya Medical Centre later, decli­ning to give more details.
