A boy was critically injured after a bear mauled him in a forest near Aring 8, in Gua Musang, Kelantan, reported Berita Harian.
Dee Usop, nine, from Kampung Aring 5, was attacked while looking for wood with his father, Usop Ching, 39, at around 3pm on Tuesday.
Usop, who was also injured on his back in the attack, had to carry his son out of the forest to get help.
They had to trek for an hour before they were finally saved by farm workers.
One of the farm workers, who only wanted to be known as Fan, 41, said they found the father and son covered in blood.
“I took them to a clinic for treatment. The father told us that they had gone into the forest at noon to look for wood and didn’t see the bear until it was too late,” he said, adding that Dee’s face was badly injured.

During the noon incident on Wednesday, Mohd Adam Rayan Mohd Shahrulnizam suddenly lost consciousness while drinking milk and was rushed to a clinic by his parents.
Rosalinda’s husband, Mohd Shahrulnizam Mat Nasir, said his wife had gone to make another bottle of milk after their son finished drinking the first one.
“When she returned to the room, she saw that his face had turned blue and he was unconscious,” said Mohd Shahrulnizam.
