Woman hurt during robbery by taxi driver in Subang Jaya

SUBANG JAYA: A 28-year-old woman was robbed by a taxi driver near Subang Parade.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the incident occurred at around 8.45am Monday.

"The woman took the cab to go to Empire Shopping Gallery at SS16.

"When the taxi reached the back road near Subang Parade, the taxi driver stopped his car and brandished a knife.

"He pressed the knife at the woman's ear and demanded for her valuables," he said.

He added that the suspect injured the woman with the knife and then put it down and took out a weapon resembling a pistol and pointed it at her.

"He took her handbag. He then drove the victim to the post office at SS15 and dropped her off there," ACP Azlin said, adding that the woman lost RM1,500, her mobile phone and house keys.

He said police were now on the hunt for a taxi driver in his 40s.

"He was driving a Proton Wira taxi," he said, urging anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 03-20529999 or visit the nearest police station.
