KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has been placed on the human trafficking watchlist by the United States for the second consecutive year over its failure to meet basic standards in fighting the crime.
Although the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report this year recognised Malaysia’s move to pass amendments to the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act to give more protection and freedom for trafficking victims an official said these changes have yet to be fully realised.
