PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s anti-graft agency needs to be operationally and financially independent and only then can the country’s Corruption Perception Index improve, says Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) senior vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
Calling for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 to be amended, he said an independent, transparent and professional MACC would go a long way to efficiently address high-level graft cases, including the misappropriation of the RM100mil from the Youth and Sports Ministry.
