Nazri wants Muhyiddin suspended

SABAK BERNAM: Stern action should be taken against Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) for his continuous attacks against the party president.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said he will propose at the upcoming supreme council meeting that Muhyiddin be suspended for is alleged role in undermining the president.

"He has to remember that he is not an ordinary member. He is the party deputy president.

"According to the party constitution, he is suppose to assist the president.

"However, I think he has gone overboard this time," he said at the Sg Haji Dorani homestay here on Monday.

Nazri claimed that Muhyiddin had criticised the party leadership when he openly spoke to a group of party critics and the public right before the last Umno general assembly.

He urged Muhyiddin to quit his party post if "he no longer can become a team player".

"If he thinks he is doing the right thing, he should just leave and fight in the open.

"I think his actions have gone beyond what is considered reasonable," said Nazri.

Muhyiddin had repeatedly expressed concerns over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue over the last month.

A day before the Umno general assembly in December last year, he gave a speech to the public at a gathering at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman which was attended by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
