KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah received an honorary doctorate in Strategic Management and Leadership from the Management and Science University in conjunction with MSU’s 18th convocation ceremony.
The PhD scroll was presented yesterday to the King by MSU chancellor Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah at a special ceremony at Dewan Seri Maharaja, Istana Negara, here.
Present were MSU pro-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin, its president Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, and board members and senior management of the university.
Mohd Shukri said the conferment of the honorary doctorate was in recognition of Tuanku Abdul Halim’s concern for the field of education and his military leadership as the supreme commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
He said the King always attended the various activities organised by the university as well as the events held at schools and other universities.
“His Majesty has also shone in the area of management,” he said, noting that Tuanku Abdul Halim was appointed as Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1965 and was the fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1970 to 1975.
Mohd Shukri said that the King always expressed concern over the well-being of the people and harmony among them, while also addressing social and religious issues.
