PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down the “Islamic State-minded person” who threatened to kill Datuk Noor Farida Ariffin of G25 over her objection to khalwat raids.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohd Roy Suhaimi Sarif said they were looking for the person going by the name of Al Mujahid Arman on Facebook.
Noor Farida had lodged a police report on Saturday following the Facebook posting which read, “halal darahnya untuk dibunuh” (her blood is permissible to be killed).
Supt Mohd Roy said they had opened an investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for issuing death threats.
Al Mujahid’s profile photograph showed a man holding a Kalashnikov weapon with the Islamic State logo in the background.
Supt Mohd Roy said police also received reports against G25 over the comments which were made at a Dec 5 forum on “Islam in a Constitutional Democracy”.
Malacca police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye confirmed that police would also be calling Noor Farida to facilitate investigations into the G25 forum under the Sedition Act.
G25 had called for review of khalwat raids, saying that they had encroached into private space.
In IPOH, police said they were working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to track down a social media user who had allegedly threatened to sexually assault Noor Farida.
State crime chief Senior Asst Commissioner Datuk Goh Kok Liang said they had obtained the particulars of Facebook user Sharul Nizam Ab Rahim.
“We are searching for his whereabouts. We are also recording statements and collecting information from witnesses.
“So far, three police reports have been lodged over the incident two weeks ago,” he said.
It was reported that the man had posted on his Facebook page about his plans to break into Noor Farida’s house and sexually assault her.
In comments under the posting, Sharul said Noor Farida had no respect for religious laws and had made other Muslims angry, making him feel compelled to “make other people angry” too.
