SHAH ALAM: A 19-year-old boy was ordered to be sent to the Henry Gurney School for causing the death of a businessman two years ago.
High Court judge Justice Abdul Alim Abdullah also ordered the teen to remain at the school until he turns 21.
The boy, together with another man at large, had pleaded guilty to causing the death of 27-year-old A. Murugiah in Batu 16, Sungai Pelong, Jalan Kuala Selangor in Petaling Jaya between 3am and 5am on Dec 12, 2011. He was 17 at the time of incident.
He was initially charged with murder but pleaded guilty to an alternative charge Monday.
According to the statement of facts, Murugiah was driving his Mercedez Benz when he stopped at a red light.
An eyewitness, who was at his store selling newspapers about 100 metres away, testified that he saw two males approaching the car and telling the victim in Tamil to get out of the car.
One of them smashed the windscreen while the other dragged the victim out of the vehicle before driving off.
The victim was found bleeding and half-conscious when he was taken to the hospital. He died two days later.
Post-mortem report revealed the victim died because of skull and brain injuries due to blunt force trauma to the head.
