Kuala Terengganu voters can check status via SMS

PUTRAJAYA: Voters who will cast their ballots for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat by-election on Jan 17 can check their status via SMS.

This service was made available from yesterday to voting day. Each SMS costs 35 sen, Election Commission secretary Datuk Ngah Senik said.

He said this was the latest service introduced by the commission through a collaboration with the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit and the Prime Minister’s Department.

Voters involved in the Kuala Terengganu by-election can send the SMS by typing SPR identity card number and send it to 15888.

The information they will obtain will include the name of their voting station, their voting channel and serial number in the voter registration book, he added.

Ngah said voters could also continue to check their status through the commission’s website www.spr.gov.my or by contacting the state commission office at 09-622 1218 or 03-6236161 from 8am till midnight till Jan 17.
