The lorry driver Sukarnan Saim, 49, from Tanah Merah, escaped with light injuries, while his co-driver Naimun Noh, 45 sustained serious injuries after he was flung onto the windscreen.

Mohd Ghazali, from Bachok, and his family were on their way to Seremban in Negri Sembilan.

Several of the victims were thrown out of the car when it skidded on the slippery and winding road, regarded as the most deadly stretch in Kelantan.
