Kim performed a number of hits at the event. such as 'Men Are All Like That', 'One Man' and Sarang Surowo'.
FANS of South Korean celebrity Kim Jong Kook brought the house down with their screams when they got the chance to meet their idol at a performance at Encorp Strand Mall, Kota Damansara recently.
Hundreds turned up since early morning, holding placards and banners to catch a glimpse of Kim, who also gave a performance on June 7.
Affectionately known as ‘Tiger’ or ‘Commander Kookie’, he is well known for his role in the popular Korean gameshow Running Man.
Kim is also a pop singer and performed a number of hits at the event, such as Men Are All Like That, One Man and Sarang Surowo (Loveable).
Puah Shien Yi, 18, and her brother Ming Woo, 17 were among the fans at the mall to watch Kim’s performance.
“I like Jong Kook the best because he is a great singer and he has such a lovable and cute personality, despite having a buff physique,” said Shien Yi, who was holding a placard with well wishes in Korean on it.
Meanwhile, Ming Woo confessed to liking Kim because he was a strong player in the gameshow series.
“Despite that, he still seems like a kind and fun person who treats his other teammates with respect,” he said.
Kim’s appearance was part of a 12-day celebration filled with fun activities, in conjunction with Encorp Strand Mall’s grand opening.
The movie-themed grand opening, at end of May, was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
There were also performances by aerialists Cirque du Strand from Australia, movie showcases and photo stations, as well as, edutainment-related programmes such as the How to Train your Dragon playzone.
