Motorcyclists need safe shelter

This shelter under a flyover near the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim-Jalan Damansara junction is a good example as it is at a distance from the main road and has ample space for motorcyclists to seek shelter safely. — filepic

The fatal accident in which two Malaysian motorcyclists were killed at the Bukit Timah Expressway in Singapore on March 11 should serve as a lesson to all on the importance of special shelters for motorcyclists along main roads.

In the 3.30pm incident, the victims died on the spot while six others were injured when a van mowed them down as they sought shelter from the rain under a bridge.
