Hi-tech industrial park among projects slated for MVV 2.0

SEREMBAN: A 1,135ha hi-tech industrial park is the first of six "heartbeat" projects identified under the restructured Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 development to be carried out in the 153,411ha new growth area spanning from Seremban to Port Dickson.

Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun said many potential investors were already knocking on his doors indicating their interest to invest in the hi-tech park due to open in Labu in 2020.

"The MVV 2.0 development, an area twice the size of Singapore is envisioned to be a world-class metropolis and part of Greater Kuala Lumpur will be a much sought after area due to its strategic location.

"No other states can rival us when it comes to our proximity to the federal capital and the country's main airports and seaports," he said when launching MVV 2.0 here.

Aminuddin said the MVV 2.0 is expected to attract some RM294bil in investments till 2045 which will see the creation of some 600,000 jobs.

Also present at the launch was Sime Darby Property Berhad chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz. Sime Darby will be undertaking the project as the master developer.

The other five projects identified under phase one of the MVV2.0 were an integrated transportation terminal and downtown transit oriented development (3,518ha), specialised and integrated logistics services (1,240ha), World Knowledge City (2,000ha), Biopolis and Wellness City (2.000ha) and a Tourism district and bird/river sanctuary (920ha).

The MVV 2.0 which would be carried out in stages over 30 years, is part of the National Physical Plan and one of 17 promoted development zones to be given priority at the national level.

Aminuddin said MVV 2.0 differed from it predecessor MVV as the restructured development gave priority to attract investments in the industrial sector.

"Under MVV, the priority was initially housing. We now wish to attract more investors especially in the clean and green and high-tech sectors to improve our economy and be able to provide more jobs," he said.

Zeti said MVV 2.0 would be an inclusive and comprehensive development plan driven by a public-private partnership which aims to deliver a new growth area for Malaysia.

"Being the master developer will allow us to extract and enhance the value of our land bank within the MVV 2.0 development area.

"I am also pleased to mention that both local and foreign investors have expressed their interest to be part of the MVV 2.0 and this signifies the enormous potential of the development," she said.

Sime Darby, she said, has been involved in the property sector in Negri Sembilan since 1997 with the opening of the 720ha township in Nilai Impian followed by the Bandar Ainsdale project in 2012 and Chemara Hills the following year.
