Public Bank, Maybank rebound sends KLCI to higher close


KUALA LUMPUR: A rebound in Public Bank and Maybank shares propped up the FBM KLCI on Tuesday despite the weaker broader market which saw recently listed Lotte Chemical Titan and Prestima taking a hit due to the sharp fall in their earnings.

At 5pm, the KLCI was up 5.1 points or 0.29% to 1,765.13. Turnover 1.82 billion shares valued at RM2.23bil. Decliners beat advancers two to one or 503 to 271 while 454 counters were unchanged.

Stocks market data showed retail investors and foreign funds were net buyers at RM23.73mil and RM63.73mil but local institutions were net buyers at RM87.46mil.
