KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) remains the largest public listed company on Bursa Malaysia, with its market capitalisation breaching the RM100bil mark today (Wednesday), making it the first ever company on the bourse to hit this milestone.

This is based on the current number of Maybank shares of 10.52 billion shares in circulation, after the listing today of an additional 243.60 million shares issued, following the recent Dividend Reinvestment Plan.

Maybank’s share price advanced one sen to RM9.59 as at 3.15pm with 4.04 million shares transacted.

The counter, which stood as the top weighted component heavyweight in the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, hovered between RM9.60 and RM9.50 throughout the trading session today.

A reflection of investors confidence in the Malaysian economy and given Maybank’s fundamentals, the bank’s market capitalisation has more than doubled in the last 10 years from RM46.7bil in Dec 2007 to RM100bil today. - Bernama
