PETALING JAYA: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd recorded a 10.3% jump in revenue to RM502.6mil and a 7.1% higher net profit of RM67.4mil for the first quarter ended March 31.
This was contributed by solid Chinese New Year festive sales and effective portfolio premiumnisation.
In a press statement, Carlsberg said the satisfactory result was driven by higher sales and efficiencies in line with the group’s SAIL’22 strategy.
This was despite a higher share of loss of RM5.9mil from its associate company Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC in Sri Lanka, primarily due to an impairment loss on one of its brands.
Discounting the Lion Brewery loss, the group registered an organic growth in its net profit of 14.3%.
Carlsberg’s Malaysian operations contributed a revenue growth of 7.6% or RM363.4mil, while revenue from its Singapore operations improved to RM161.5mil, an increase of 18.7% as compared to the same quarter last year.
