Bank Negara’s international reserves stay at US$95bil


KUALA LUMPUR: The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia remained unchanged at US95bil as at Feb 15, 2017.

However, in ringgit terms, the international reserves rose marginally to RM426.6bil from RM426bil as at Jan 31, 2017.

In a statement on Thursday, Bank Negara said the reserves position was “sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt”.

The main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$88bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$0.8bil), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.1bil), gold (US$1.4bil) and other reserve assets (US$3.7bil).
