Pensioners should be given what’s due to them

I WRITE to share with readers the injustice being done to 700,000 helpless, poor and sickly government pensioners since Jan 1, 2012.

In January 2012, the Government implemented the New Remuneration Scheme (NRS), also known as Saraan Baru Perkhidmatan Awam (SBPA). However, due to some controversy, the implementation was scrapped on March 8, 2012 and the Government instead offered a salary revision consisting of the Skim Saraan Malaysia (SSM) with a hike of 13% on the 2011 SSM salaries and an annual salary increase of between RM80 and RM320.
