Police, army veterans support Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: The associations of police and army veterans fully support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's leadership and hit out at quarters attempting to topple the government through an undemocratic way.

President of the Ex-Police Association of Malaysia, Prof Dr Hassan Yusoff, said love for the country and the desire to live in harmony should be in the hearts of all Malaysian citizens, regardless of age, position, race, religion and political affiliation.

"The harmony that we are enjoying today is the result of the sacrifices by the past generation who were willing to suffer to ensure peace in the country," he added.

The former Pahang police chief, who was with the police force for 28 years, said immediate action should be taken against those who attempted to undermine the harmony in the country.

The police and other enforcement agencies needed the support of the people to control the situation, said Hassan.

Hassan, 68, blamed the social media for exploiting facts to help achieve the malicious intent of some quarters without considering the hardship to be faced by the people if there was chaos in the country.

He advised the public to not be easily deceived with their propaganda.

Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association secretary Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Tajul Arifin Chu Johari said all 160,000 members of the association fully supported the country's leadership.

"We should not believe in rumours spread by irresponsible quarters who want to destroy unity that has been forged among the people," he added.

Tajul Arifin, 60, who was with the army for 28 years, said the young generation should appreciate the harmonious living they were enjoying and should not be deceived by the propaganda spread by irresponsible quarters.

"The young generation should have a more open mind and be wiser in evaluating news they read in the social media," he added. - Bernama
