PETALING JAYA: The charred body of a man was found in a burnt Perodua Myvi car owned by a VIP, in an open space on a hillock in Bukit Damansara, here.

From police investigation on the car chassis number, it was found that the car owner is a Tan Sri living in a housing area nearby and the car is believed to be used by his son.

Brickfields police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said police received a call at 10.34am on the incident from a security guard in the area.

Firemen who arrived at the scene managed to put out the fire and found a burnt body inside the car.

Muhammad Azlee said according to the 80-year-old Tan Sri, the car was driven by his son who went out at 9am. The son, in his 40s, had Alzheimer's disease and needed to take his medication regularly.

He said the body could not be identified and was sent to hospital for DNA tests.

"There were no signs of foul play at the scene. The forensics team will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire," he said.

Sri Hartamas Fire and Rescue Station chief Rodzlan Othman said firemen found a portable folded chair and two lighters in the burnt car. - Bernama
