Sodomy II: See you in some years, Anwar tells tearful family members

Wan Azizah and her children leaving the court in Putrajaya after Anwar was sentenced to five years in jail for sodomising his former aide.

PUTRAJAYA: The atmosphere in the courtroom was filled with anguish and sadness as the impact of the Federal Court's decision convicting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sank in.

"See you in some years," said the Opposition leader as he waved to the public gallery after hugging his family who burst into tears upon hearing the verdict

He then turned to his grandson and said, "Remember what I told you, you must go to school."

He was also seen consoling his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and his eldest daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Anwar's father-in-law Wan Ismail Wan Mahmood was also in tears.

Later in his tweet, Anwar appeared to remain resilient although  the decision was not in his favour.

"Allah is my witness. I will not be silent. I will never surrender," he said via his official tweethandle @anwaribrahim.
