Quarrel ends with student slicing off schoolmate’s ear

SEREMBAN: A Form 2 student of a school in Rembau near here had his left ear sliced off by a schoolmate after they got into an argument.

The students had been teasing one another and had had petty quarrels, which eventually upset the attacker, who is also in Form 2.

The boy then confronted his schoolmate outside the school compound as they were going home.

Armed with a sharp object, he allegedly pounced on the other student and severed his ear.

Rembau OCPD Deputy Supt Mizan Md Dom confirmed the incident, which happened more than two weeks ago.

“Based on our investigation, the boys had been arguing over petty things and it ended with a fight outside the school.

“The attacker has been charged in court and is now out on police bail,” he said.

After the attack, the victim was rushed to a clinic and then to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here.

Doctors managed to reattach the ear but the surgery was unsuccessful.

“The reattached ear started turning black a few days later because the tissues were already dead,” said a source.

Doctors had to remove it for fear it would harm the victim and were considering fitting him with a prosthetic ear, according to the source.

The state education department was conducting its own investigation into the incident, said an official who declined to be named.

“We are waiting for a full report from the school and will take disciplinary action against the attacker,” he said.
