RapidKL monorail stops operations this Sunday for signals upgrading

KUALA LUMPUR: The RapidKL monorail service will be suspended from midnight on April 12 to 6am on April 14 to facilitate upgrading of its signalling system which includes the introduction of 12 new sets of four-car trains.

Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (RapidKL) will provide more shuttle bus services during the shutdown.

Chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said in a statement that 15 buses would be made available on three designated routes - between KL Sentral and Bukit Bintang; Bukit Bintang and Titiwangsa; and KL Sentral and Tititwangsa.

Five buses would be added on each route at a frequency of 15 minutes, he added.

"All our buses are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) facilities and trunk-call communication, so we can easily inject more buses (to the routes)
if necessary," he said.

Furthermore, RapidKL would monitor the situation closely from its Bus Control Centre facility at the Cheras Selatan Depot, he added.

Commuters affected by the temporary suspension can check the exact location of the bus stops on the website www.myrapid.com.my.
