KUANTAN: A 78-year-old woman was killed when the car she was in plunged into a ditch after hitting a motorcycle here.
Zaleha Abdul Aziz, who was in the back passenger seat, died at the scene from severe chest and neck injuries in the 4.05pm incident on Sunday. The driver, motorcyclist and another passenger were treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for injuries.
The car was heading from Pekan towards Kuantan when it hit the guard rail on the right side of the road. It then skidded and rammed into the motorcycle, causing both vehicles to crash into a ditch nearby.
In another fatal road accident on the same day, Shaikh Nur Adham Shaikh Mohamad Abdullah, 19, was riding his motorcycle along Jalan Kuantan Bypass at 4.50am when he scraped the road divider and crashed into a lamppost in the middle of the divider.
Also along the same stretch of Jalan Kuantan Bypass, lorry driver S. Nagendran, 51, died from severe chest injuries when he drove his car into the rear of another vehicle making a U-turn at the Permatang Badak traffic light at 7.20pm.
