Suspected drug addict dies in Bayan Baru lock-up


BALIK PULAU: A 50-year-old odd job labourer was found dead at the Bayan Baru police station lock-up after he had complained of feeling unwell on Saturday.

Policemen who found N. Ramasamy lifeless transferred him to the holding room. He died at 1am after the ambulance arrived.

OCPD Supt Lai Fah Hin said the deceased was arrested on Feb 24 with his twin brother after they tested positive for drugs.

Ramasamy was to be charged on Wednesday for drug addiction. Supt Lai said the case has been classified as sudden death and CCTV footage on the lock-up area showed no elements of foul play.
