MUAR: Bakri Umno division committee member Ghazali Salamon declared Thursday that he will contest as an independent candidate for the Bukit Naning state seat on May 5.
He said he was protesting against Barisan Nasional which named division chief Datuk Saipolbahari Suib as candidate for the Bukit Naning state seat.
He said Saipolbahari was not close to the villagers in Bukit Naning.
This is the first such announcement in the state of a person wanting to go independent.
