Obama administration to announce efforts to boost self-driving cars

Safety concerns: Proposed regulations for autonomous cars include having a steering wheel ,throttle and brake pedals when operating on California

DETROIT: The Obama administration will announce efforts to boost self-driving cars, and President Barack Obama may discuss advanced transportation efforts in his final State of the Union Address, according to government officials. 

Mark Rosekind, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, told reporters that Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will be in Detroit to talk about efforts by the Obama administration to speed the introduction of self-driving vehicles.
