Slim chance: Perak midfielder Nasir Basharuddin (right) is unlikely to be available for the Malaysia Cup opener against PKNS FC at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh tonight.

PETALING JAYA: The omens are looking good for Perak to end their 17-year wait to lift the Malaysia Cup when they kick off their Group B campaign against PKNS FC at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh tonight.

The Seladang last won the Malaysia Cup in 2000 – beating Negri Sembilan 2-0. It took them another seven years to reach the Malaysia Cup final – in 2007 – but they were beaten 3-0 by Kedah.
