National no. 1 spot not on Vivian-Cheng Wen’s minds after upset of Thai pair

Winning start: Malaysia’s Yap Cheng Wen (right) and Vivian Hoo in action against Thailand’s Chayanit Chaladchalam-Phataimas Muenwong in the women’s doubles first round.

VIVIAN Hoo insists the national No. 1 women’s doubles spot isn’t something she and partner Yap Cheng Wen are pursuing despite making steady progress in their four-month partnership so far.

The duo were paired by head coach Rosman Razak last September and the move paid dividends as they went on to claim two titles at the Macau Open and Bangladesh International Challenge besides finishing runners-up at the Hyderabad Open in India.
